Vera Bradley co-founders Patricia R. Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard met as new neighbors, when Patricia rang Barbara’s doorbell to welcome her to their Indiana neighborhood with a gift.
A friendship blossomed, and these two entrepreneurial women launched a company to manufacture and market their cleverly designed handbags, luggage and accessories. These products combined smart designs with distinctive, colorful fabrics and trims. They named the company “Vera Bradley” after Barbara’s mother.
Today, Vera Bradley has grown to $500 million in annual sales, and demand from its products continues to grow.
From its start in Indiana, Vera Bradley has grown to become an American icon, recognized and desired around the world. It has an extremely loyal customer following of women and girls of all ages and all lifestyles who look forward to each season’s new colors and styles.
